Privacy Policy

This is a website of Butterflysandwich Amalgamated. We can be reached at the email address given on our About page. This policy is effective as of March 1, 2009.

Your privacy is important to us. We never sell your personal information to third parties.

Like almost every other website on the internet, we collect basic information which we use to help us track the progress and popularity of our site. We also use it to see what interests our visitors with the hopes to make our website more useful and interesting to them.

The only information we share with third parties is aggregated and anonymous, such as total monthly unique visits or page views.

To gather visitor information we use Google Analytics and StatCounter. These services track information such as: unique visitors, referring sites, landing pages, exit links, download activity, visitor paths, time on site, return visitors, search engine keywords, IP addresses, geographic and language information, browser information, operating system, monitor resolution, and so forth. As far as we know, these services use cookies to track visitors to our site. Frankly we find the breadth and depth of this information bewildering and we find ourselves wondering what to do with most of it.

We do not currently collect names, addresses, telephone numbers or email addresses of visitors. If we ever do in the future, we promise that we won’t ever share it with advertisers. Our sites do collect URLs of people who comment on our blog. Users may opt to withhold this information when leaving comments. We don’t really use this information, except maybe to visit their websites and/or be friendly with them. Due to the nature of blog software and agreed-upon standards of blog comments, this information is public and shared with everyone.

We participate in affiliate programs and show advertising on our sites. Our advertisers may use cookies and also may gather information about you and share some of it with us. (Actually they share very little and none of it could be used to identify you.) As noted above, we do not share any of this information with anyone else except in the form of totals.

At any given time we may or may not be advertising with Google Adsense. When we display Adsense ads, Google, as a third party vendor, uses cookies to serve ads on our site. Google’s use of the DART cookie enables it to serve ads to our users based on their Internet usage. Users may opt out of the use of the DART cookie by visiting the Google ad and content network privacy policy.
