Alice in Wonderland Un-Anniversary Special Edition

On March 30 Disney will be releasing 2-disk "Special Un-Anniversary Edition" of it's 1951 animated version of Alice in Wonderland, which is the version that most people probably picture when someone mentions Alice in Wonderland as a movie. The DVD set will include new features, including an unreleased song, a deleted scene (Pig and Pepper), some featurettes, and a documentary. Especially interesting will be a featurette on the making of Alice in Wonderland. Of course, this release will also be remastered and restored. Get it here.

Tim Burton's Next Projects

IMDB lists three projects "in development" for Tim Burton. These are:
1. Maleficent (2013)
2. Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter (2011)
3. Dark Shadows (2011)

This site started the Maleficent rumors. Maleficent is the name of the evil fairy godmother who casts a spell on Sleeping Beauty in the 1959 Disney movie of the same name. Apparently, Burton will be doing a version of Sleeping Beauty from Maleficent's viewpoint.

Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter is news to me. It sounds pretty self-explanatory, though, doesn't it? It is based on a recently released book by Seth Grahame-Smith, who is the author of Pride and Prejudice and Zombies. Here's a blurb on it.

Dark Shadows is something I've been looking forward to since I heard about it. This is a movie adaptation of an old supernatural-themed soap opera of the same name. Johnny Depp will play a vampire named Barnabas Collins, who was one of the main characters on the show.

Reviews of Tim Burton's Alice in Wonderland Begin to Appear

Now that the review embargo has been lifted, reviews of Tim Burton's Alice in Wonderland are appearing. At this time, the film is enjoying a score of 78% on Rotten Tomatoes. To put this score into perspective, Martin Scorsese's new film Shutter Island is currently at 67%, and James Cameron's Avatar is at 82%. This is only based on 9 reviews, so I'm sure the number has got some moving around to do, but I feel that's positive.

In other good news, Odeon Cinemas in the UK have reached an agreement with Disney over the disputed DVD release time.

The fashion blog, Go Fug Yourself, wants to know what you think about what Helena Bonham Carter wore to the British World Premiere. Go tell them!

Then come back and watch the 1903 version of Alice in Wonderland.

I don't usually get tickets this far in advance, but at the same time, I didn't want to miss it on the first night. There is a small extra charge, but it isn't as eye-popping as some other ticket vendors I could name, which I think are a rip-off, and it saves you from standing in line the night of the show. • Bandersnatch, The: evil creature under the control of the Red Queen.
• Brillig: 4 o’clock in the afternoon. When one begins broiling things for dinner.
• Crims: The central area of Underland.
• Downal wyth Bluddy Behg Hid: Down with the Red Queen, the slogan of the Resistance.
• Ezel: High, go higher, go up.
• Fairfarren: Farewell. May you travel far under fair skies.
• Frabjous day: The day Alice slays the Jabberwocky and frees Underland from the oppression of the Red Queen.
• Frumious: Dirty and smelly.
• Futterwacken: The Underlanders’ dance of unbridled joy.

Interview with Costume Designer for Tim Burton's Alice

Today we have an interview with Costume Designer Colleen Atwood, who has worked with Tim Burton quite a few times and who designed the costumes for Alice in Wonderland 2010.

Final Piece of Tim Burton's Alice 2010 Poster

Disney has released the third and final piece of the Alice in Wonderland poster. This one with Johnny Depp (as the Mad Hatter) and Alan Rickman as The Caterpillar. I was reading somewhere that the movie is only four months away, which it is!

Disney also released an eye-strain-o-vision tiny version of the three posters stitched together. Of course, I got out my construction paper and scissors and did it up right. So, here it is, an Alice 2010 exclusive! The whole poster.

Happy Birthday Anne Hathaway

Today is Anne Hathaway's birthday. As you no doubt know by now, she is playing the White Queen in the upcoming Tim Burton movie, Alice in Wonderland 2010. I personally think she's a great choice and am looking forward to seeing her in it. I've really only seen her in maybe two movies. I thought she was very good in Get Smart. Here is her IMDB page.

New 2010 Images and Mad Hatter Action for Alice

Wow, I'm getting to post real news about Tim Burton's Alice in Wonderland 2010.

First and foremost, a magazine scan has appeared on the Internet which is about Alice 2010 and has photos of some of the characters. The interesting thing about this scan is that the Caterpillar is pictured. The Caterpillar will be played by Alan Rickman. Here's another photos for you.

Another thing about this photo is that the White Queen looks kind of different from how she's looked in other press items...

MEANWHILE: the Mad Hatter Facebook page has new info, mostly having to do with the image above. Looks like once again a leak has preceded a Disney release. Maybe they're leaking these things on purpose.
